How do Cancer Cell develop? The Origin of Cancer and the Importance of a Multi-Pronged Strategy

Cancer is a disease that originates within the body. Understanding its causes and adopting a multi-pronged strategy are critical to combat it effectively. Below, we explore cell replication, DNA damage, and the body’s defense mechanisms to explain why a comprehensive approach is essential.

Why Does Cancer Originate Within the Body?

Almost every cell in the body continuously replicates, creating copies of itself. For example, skin cells replicate to produce more skin cells, and liver cells generate more liver cells. This process relies on DNA as a blueprint. DNA determines how a skin cell remains a skin cell and a liver cell remains a liver cell. However, DNA can be damaged by free radicals, which may come from our diet, pollutants accumulated in the body, or even stress. [^1]  Every day, a cell’s DNA faces thousands of free radical attacks. If DNA is damaged, like a map stained with coffee, the cell may take a wrong path and become a cancer cell.[^2]

How Does the Body Resist Cancer Cells?

Fortunately, the body has many mechanisms to address this issue. First, cells attempt to repair damaged DNA. If the DNA blueprint cannot be repaired, the cell tries to self-destruct. If this fails, and we have a strong immune system, it patrols the bloodstream, searching for abnormal cells. Upon detecting a cell that looks like a cancer cell, the immune system eliminates it. These protective mechanisms handle 99.9% of mutations. However, rare mutant cells escape because they possess unique traits, giving them a survival advantage other mutant cells lack. They then begin to grow, with one cell dividing into two, two into four, and so on.

Why Is a Single Method Insufficient Against Cancer?

Therefore, our strategy against cancer must be multi-pronged, as relying on a single method is inadequate. There is no magic drug, pill, diet, or device that can eliminate all cancer cells. As cancer cells are cunning, our approach must be equally smart. Thus, we adopt a seven-pillar strategy to fight and defeat cancer. This comprehensive approach not only targets cancer cells but also optimizes the body’s environment by reducing free radical sources through improved diet, stress reduction, and lower pollutant exposure, while strengthening the immune system to enhance treatment outcomes.

This holistic method helps patients better manage the disease and improves their quality of life. Understanding cancer’s internal origin and the limitations of single-method approaches forms the basis for effective treatment plans. Through the seven-pillar strategy, we can confront cancer comprehensively, offering patients better prospects for health.
